About Hannah Levin

Hannah grew up in the Penland School of Craft community in North Carolina, daughter of famed glass blower Robert Levin, and was exposed to lots of artistic mediums as a child. She threw her first pot with Mark Shapiro when she was eight years old. In high school, Hannah attendedĀ a summer arts program called Horizons School of Crafts in Massachusetts, which allowed her to focus on ceramics and surface design.

Becoming an elementary school art teacher in her early 20s led Hannah to write grants for pottery equipment and hone her skills in teaching pottery to her students. Over the next 11 years she would also teachĀ ceramics at the high school and community college level.

Attending Southwestern Community College’s pottery program, Penland School of Craft, and John C. Campbell Folk School allowed Hannah to learn from a variety of adept teachers and further helped her sharpen her skills.

Hannah became a professional Potter in 2013 and has been honing her particular style of sgraffito pottery ever since.

Hannah uses a mid range, porcelain clay, with black underglaze that she carves through to create her unique sgraffito designs. She then puts a clear glaze over the whole piece which makes it food safe (dishwasher and microwave safe too).Ā

Built for everyday use with a personal touch, you can enjoy Hannah's pottery for years to come!
