Here come the colder winds of Autumn that dry, chill, and play with us as the days grow shorter over the next few months. Wearing a scarf is one of the best ways to stay healthy and happy this time of year. It can really be that simple. When the cool wind brushes against our necks it can bring a chill into the body, which weakens our natural reserves of energy and immunity. Ayurveda teaches us to balance with the wisdom of opposites. When the weather is cool, we need to cultivate warmth and preserve our body heat. Scarves are a simple and fun way to do this. Energetically and emotionally, we can feel more ungrounded, anxious, or scattered in the Autumn as well. Wearing a scarf supports us in "not losing our heads" as we connect the head to the body with the warmth and reassurance from comfortable cloth. They are also a fun way to add a flair of color to an outfit. Ayurveda (the wisdom of life) hinges on living in alignment with the natural world. When the weather changes, how we dress needs to change too. It's time to pull out your scarves and start enjoying them again. You will be happy you did!
