This Time is Sacred
Jul 13, 2025
We may expect ourselves to be unchanging for portions of our lives, like things will always be stable and predictable… but the truth is, just like flickering candle flames, our bodies, minds, and spirits continue to shift, quietly and powerfully, through our 20s, 30s, and 40s.
Then, something more noticeable begins to unfold. Cycles become irregular. Hormonal rhythms shift. Menstrual blood changes in quantity and quality. This is the doorway of perimenopause, the sacred threshold before menopause, which is one day marking one full year since your last bleed.
We then proceed to live into a new era of life... for the rest of our days. This time is sacred as we become the buffer generation and live into the true expression of who we are at a deeper level, and learn to be good ancestors, should we chose to answer the call.
Our culture pushes women in their enchantress years aside and strives to convince them they are invisible and of no use.
But what if we changed the way we talk about this season of life?
What if, instead of fearing it or trying to “fix” ourselves, we saw this time as something to celebrate?
What if we honored it as the moment we begin evolving into the next version of who we are meant to be?
We are not stagnant, we are flickering flames.
Alive. Shifting. Becoming.
While you are eagerly awaiting our time together on the 21st, how about making yourself a nourishing summer soup (and check out my Recipe Library for more yummy inspirations)?

- 1 8–10 inch zucchini (or equivalent), chopped into small cubes
- 1 cup red lentils (rinsed)
- 1 cup chopped green (or purple) beans
- 4 cups water or broth
- 1 tsp ghee
- 1/2 tsp brown mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 inch fresh ginger root, minced
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- pinch of hing (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- wedges of lime or bottled lime juice
Instructions:
In a small pan, melt the ghee and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and hing. Heat until seeds begin to pop. Remove from heat.
Add all ingredients (including the seeds in ghee) to a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Alternatively, place everything in an Instant Pot and cook for 30 minutes under pressure or use the "beans" setting.
When finished, garnish with fresh cilantro and a splash of lime juice. Enjoy!
