Understanding your unique combination of elements is the key to a healthier you!

Have you ever wished you had been given an "owner's manual" for your specific body and mind? I certainly have. My physical and mental patterns seemed like a mystery to me for a long time. I often felt like I was a victim of them. I didn't understand how things worked, until I found Ayurveda and discovered my unique constitution. All the sudden, things I didn't understand for years made perfect sense to me. I finally had an "owner's manual." Delve into the wisdom of Ayurveda and you can experience that clarity too.

Ayurveda originated in India and is over 5,000 years old. It is the sister-science of Yoga and includes using diet and lifestyle changes, along with herbal medicine, to affect positive change in health and wellbeing. Ayurveda is based in 5 Elements (Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth). Everything (weather, body type, food, emotions, life stage, seasons, etc.) can be brought back to its elemental nature. The system of Ayurveda uses Dosha (or constitutional energies) to understand balance and imbalance. When a dosha is out of balance, we use diet, lifestyle, and herbs to bring the dosha back into balance.

There are 3 Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vata is made of up of the elements Air and Either and governs movement. Pitta is made up of Fire and Water and governs digestion. Kapha is made up of Earth and Water and governs connectivity/immunity. We each are made up of all three doshas, just in different amounts, making us unique in how we need to be treated for health issues. This explains why some diets, routines, or drugs work well for some people and make other people feel worse. Western medicine is currently discovering many things that Ayurveda has known for thousands of years.
