Honor Nature With A Lunar Infusion
Aug 11, 2025
Happy Full Moon, friends!
Nature gives us such reassurance of consistency amidst the volatile and uncertain world of humans. No matter how chaotic the world becomes, the sun still rises and sets. The solstices arrive. The equinoxes come on time. These rhythms remind us that something steady and dependable is always holding us. When we choose to live in alignment with those natural rhythms, life feels softer, steadier, and more easeful.
This is a call to return to what makes us truly human, to choose connection over commoditization, and to remember that we are part of something natural and beautifully alive.
If we align with these cycles, we thrive in body, mind, and spirit.
On this full moon of August, often called the Sturgeon Moon, I invite you to make a lunar infusion.
- Put herbs of your choice (like mint, rose, lavender, sage, rosemary, or tulsi), dried or fresh, into a clear glass jar and fill it with water.
- Place the jar in a spot where the moon light will shine on it, and leave it out overnight.
- In the morning, strain out the herbs and drink the water. It is cooling to the blood and calming to the soul, nourishing in these hot summer days.
Here is a poem to enjoy as you experience the soothing balm, or soma, of the lunar infusion:
Lunar Infusions
—a poem for the Divine Feminine under the Full Moon
She spills her light across the land,
A glowing bowl in sky-born hand,
The Moon—our Mother, round and wise,
With silver secrets in her eyes.
She stirs the herbs in crystal jars,
Soft petals bathed in light from stars,
And every leaf, and root, and bloom
Drinks deep beneath the watchful moon.
Rose for heart and mugwort dreams,
Nettle strength in shadowed streams,
Lavender for softened breath—
A tonic brewed from light and depth.
This is her gift, this quiet grace,
To slow the pulse, to hold the space,
To nourish what the world has thinned—
The sacred well that lives within.
O daughters of the fertile tide,
Who bleed and birth and swell with pride,
You are the water, you are the flame,
You are the vessel and the name.
So steep your prayers in lunar glow,
Let wildness rise and wisdom flow.
Drink what the full moon leaves behind—
A sip of stillness, strong and kind.
