Beyond the Numbers
Apr 26, 2026
What an incredible time we had at yesterday's Spring Women's Wisdom Workshop! Thank you to everyone who joined us in exploring how to support ourselves beautifully in this season of life.
Today, I'm thinking about something that came up in our conversations: the exhausting focus on numbers in health culture. Calories, macros, weight targets – they dominate every wellness conversation, don't they?
But here's what I've learned (and what research is finally catching up to) - how we feel when we eat matters just as much as what we eat.
When we're stressed, rushed, or eating something that feels restrictive and joyless, our bodies literally can't absorb nutrients as well. Ancient Ayurvedic wisdom has known this for millennia!
This is why I love teaching about the six tastes – sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent. When we include all six in our meals, something magical happens: we feel truly satisfied. Cravings fade. Our bodies feel nourished on a deeper level. And, each season has certain tastes that help us balance out the influences of the environment.
True wellness isn't about perfecting numbers – it's about coming home to your body's innate wisdom and finding joy in nourishment again.
