The Spring is progressing quickly here in Floyd, Virginia. This time of year is beautiful and inspiring, yet it can also feel challenging if we are bogged down with a congested system after Winter. We might feel sluggish and cloudy if we haven’t tended to the liver as we journey through the Spring. If we tend this vital and ever forgiving organ well, we will sail through Spring into Summer clean and clear.

The liver is the organ responsible for cleansing the blood and processing emotions. It also aids in keeping our hormones in balance. During a woman’s second half of life, the liver plays an even more important role in how we feel physically, mentally, and emotionally.

In this stage of life, if the liver is not supported, the seasonal transition (as well as the perimenopausal transition) can feel heavier, more inflamed, and more overwhelming.

But when we learn how to tend to the liver, we create space for clarity, steadiness, and renewal. Spring is the season when this tending is especially necessary and potent. Our rebirth depends on our ability to “clear the gunk” (physically, mentally and emotionally)!
