Yoga For Fire Horse Shifts

Hold on everyone! The year of the Fire Horse is here!
Returning home from a fabulous time in Nicaragua last week I felt my weakened stomach churning with complex news and ensuing emotions of all that is surfacing from colonialism, patriarchy, and other forms of predatory behavior playing out (again) in our culture. Hopefully now it is being exposed at such a level that we may actually learn our lesson that it is not a viable path to try to manipulate, abuse, or own each other.
The year of the Fire Horse is right on time to help us burn through old systems and create new visionary ways of relating to each other and the Earth.
Fire Horse energy has many qualities, and although I lack the ability to speak and share about this Lunar New Year energy with complete eloquence and depth, I do want to bring forward a few qualities to contemplate:
Transformative - The element of fire is all about changing forms of things. Fire does not leave anything the way it finds it. It creates a transformation that will either make something disappear or shift forms in drastic ways. In yoga we learn about tapas as the transformational fire that creates an inner "rub of discomfort" that helps us connect with your truth and polish our rough edges. It will bring to the surface what we most want to repress.
Quick moving - Neither horses nor fire take their time in covering ground when given open spaces within which to move. Horses can cover a lot of ground with their strong bodies in motion. Fire spreads out of control when not given boundaries. There is no time to waste in asserting what is true for us and where our boundaries are. Things we thought were stable in our lives may shift rather suddenly.
Magestic - Horses have long been seen as symbols of magical lands and are sometimes seen as messengers from the spirit realm. They can sense feelings, tell right from wrong, and gallop off into the sunset.
Enlivening/Courageous/
